1. Cuckron shawl (A legacy of Lace) in Jamieson & Smith Supreme fine fleece in "Silver". Combed and handspun, 1ply on 2mm needles. Sometimes you have to do something else than the large shawl you're working on right now. Something quick which you can work on directly and doesn't require a 100 repeats. Make a swatch! A perfect opportunity to see if your yarn matches the needlesize or that you'd better go up or down a size. 2. The Second One It is also an excellent moment to combine a set of patterns and to check if it all will work out like you had planned. Often it will take only a few meters of that new yarn you just bought and you will not run short. Or... you can use that little left over from that yarn that you like so much but is already used for something else. 4. 1ply Jamieson & Smith in Fawn; swatch for The Second One. 2mm needles. Or, perhaps you have bought such soft and gorgeous yarn that you want a little bit to cuddle in your pocket. And once in a while you just want to try some yarn on extra fine needles to see how it will look when you're nót knitting lace with it. 6. Baby sock in estonian wool on 1.5mm needles. Making an attempt to turn a corner to see how many times you need to 'Wrap & Turn' to get it right. 7. "Northdale" by G. Johnston Jamieson's of Shetland (spindrift) (top) and Jamieson & Smith 2ply lace And, last but not least; taking yarn from your stash to immediately try out a brand new design. Without emptying your bank account. And slide in your own colour combinations. Or read this post: Swatch Conclusie: swatchen is GEEN tijdverspilling maar uiteindelijk een hele leuke bezigheid. Conclusion: swatching is NOT a waste of time, but a useful and pretty thing to do.

The 12th of Never is a song by Johnny Mathis and states a declaration of eternal love. This small yet very attractive shawlette is knit from the bottom to the top. Due to the characteristics of Shetland lace, this shawl will stretch to size. The large version is excellent for a bride. The mesh pattern in the centre will still show the dress, yet accentuate your shape. The hearts in this shawlette fall around the body like a hug. The mesh pattern makes it light, delicate and very, very special. I know the centre can be quite boring to knit, but look at the results! Just stunning. You need to be an intermediate knitter for this pattern. There are NO written out rows in this pattern This pattern contains 4 charts. Lace patterns are worked in knit/purl and in knit/knit. You have to graft a small piece. Stitchmarkers: 4. The patterns stay within the markers. This shawlette can be knitted with ‘left overs’ you have laying around. It only needs ~380 yards, 190y of each colour. The larger shawl is worked in fine silk lace yarn. IMPORTANT: take very good care to protect your knitting, snagging the mesh pattern can be quite difficult to repair.

This is a great project to use up all of your odds and ends of yarn, combining them together to make your own unique colour pallette of super chunky yarn. Depending on the yarns you choose, this can make it a substantial and quite weighty piece. It is bright and colourful, with a real 70's boho vibe. It is suitable for a beginner who has mastered the basics of knitting, casting on and off, colour changing using the intarsia method (tying in new colours as you go), knit and purl and some basic sewing up. Each stage of making this special design has been illustrated with images as well as written instructions. So, in spite of it being a freestyled knit, you will be able to reproduce it using these instructions. Feb 2022: The pattern has been fully updated with a clear layout, additional written instructions around the construction of the cardigan, tension and how to combine the yarns to achieve the correct weight of yarn.
